I got hooked after one of his books was loaned to me by a friend who said "OH MY GOD! YOU HAVEN'T READ TERRY PRATCHETT?!" Being a British author he's not as well known in the U.S., but has a cult like following even here. Rowling and Mark Twain had produced a child (hey, Stephen Hawkings says time trave is possible, so who am I to argue) it would be Terry Pratchett. The first couple of books in the series didn't impress my husband (or so he said) but he's been reading the series non-stop for about 2 months now to the exclusion of all else!!
